Suffolk Wave

I wish I had explored this site when I first hear about it. I always knew we could access this online library, but I never knew it could help me. I searched for a book that I'm reading in one of my classes ( "American Lion" by. Jon Meacham and Richard McGonagle), and I found it. Not only would reading it on my computer be easier for me, it would have been a lot cheaper too. The downloading time took quite awhile, but its nothing outrageous. All-in-all I have to say I like this site, and will definitely be using it in the future.

Flickr

I've always used Flickr for school projects, or just for my own personal use. I like the idea of having an online photo album, but I never wanted to make my own. The picture I looked at was found by typing in Iraq. Its a panting of a real photo I believe, and it makes a powerful statement. I find it easy to navigate this site, and it has a nice format. The greatest thing about Flickr is it allows its users to post their photography free of charge so people can view it. Its like an art museum online.

Youtube

I've used youtube many times in the past, both for education as well as entertainment purposes. I like how its a free and a shareable program, connection people all over the world. I also like how you can comment on someones video, especially since many people who post videos like to have feedback from their viewers. I also use this site to get a recap on any professional sports games that I might have missed the night before. I choose the video in the link because it was on youtube's home page, and i got a good laugh out of it.

Library Thing

The librarything website is a great tool for anyone who is in to reading. Even though you can't read the books, I see it being used as a literary form of itunes, in that anyone can keep track of their favorite books. What I see as being more useful is the tag cloud that librarything allows us to use on our library's catalog. This application is very useful for our patrons as well as for our own personal use. Delicious

I've always heard about this site but never bothered to look in to it. I didn't really get it at first, but the more I went through it, the more i saw its potential. I like the fact that it can be accessed from any computer, since most people use a number of different computers during any given day. I also see the way that Delicious can be used for academic research, and I will actually try and use this site on my upcoming research papers.

Facebook and myspace

I have been using Myspace for as long as i can remember, and Facebook for the last four years. In high school they were the base to my social life, and now that I'm older they are a great way to stay connected to old friends. Even though i have both, i use Facebook almost exclusively, as i see it a little less juvenile then Myspace. I can see why both these sites have gained such popularity, especially with the youth population, as it allows one to let the world know about them. I'm happy to see the library embrace these sites, hopefully making more youths become interested in us.

Twitter

"The Curious Case of Benjamin Button"-- One of the longest movies I've watched, but well worth the time. Must see

I don't really see the purpose of twitter. Facebook has a similar option where you can check the status of your friends. Twitter seems to be a simple form of that website

the program so far

I think the program so far is going good. I'm beginning to understand more and more about Web 2.0 as I go on. I hope to see how much more I will learn in the weeks to come.
